Stent Manufacturer Expands at the Medical Technology Site Rostock
CORTRONIK GmbH, responsible for the development and production of stents, is expanding in the Technology Centre Warnemünde by about 2,000 m2 and creating more jobs in the Hanseatic city.
As a site for medical technology, Rostock is excellently positioned and offers enormous potential for growth. This is why BIOTRONIK Group has created a focus of site development in the Hanseatic city in the form of CORTRONIK as a centre of excellence in metals. The company, which has been based here since 1998, which currently produces stents with more than 170 employees on 3,000 m2 in the Technology Centre Warnemünde, will expand by about 2,000 m2. 400 m2 of this are for clean rooms/laboratories, 540 m2 for office space and a 520 m2 shell construction for a future expansion and storage and installations rooms. The production start in the new premises, for stents for coronary and peripheral vessels and heart valve stents, is planned for the start of 2015.
The expansion became necessary due to the strong growth of CORTRONIK and the need for new production procedures, explains Dr. Carsten Momma, Managing Director of CORTRONIK GmbH. "Rostock offers us excellent conditions. The good transport links, the well trained skilled personnel, the existing industry cluster and the commitment of the local authorities are contributing to our success. The business promoting organisation Rostock Business has supported us a lot," said Dr. Carsten Momma.
